10 pct Increase in Male Attendees at Cultural Centers Due to Reduced Working Hours

SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Korea Bizwire)It has been reported that since the introduction of the government imposed 52-hour workweek, the number of individuals attending department store cultural centers has increased.

Lotte Department Store, the country’s leading retailer, reported on Monday that the number of students attending its cultural centers had increased by 3.5 percent from the previous year.

While the number of adult attendees increased by 7 percent, more than half of the total attendees are adults in their 30s. In particular, the number of male students increased sharply, by 10 percent.

Lotte Department Store took this tendency into account when developing its schedule and curriculum, expanding the number of programs on offer to about 30 different classes.

The department store also opened classes specifically targeting male attendees, such as a course with Zibi Zareba, a male florist from ‘McQueen’s Flower School.’

Other courses include home decorating classes and indoor exercise classes.
