SUWON, Sept. 17 (Korea Bizwire)Doctors from the Gyeonggi Korean Medicine Association had a 10 percent success rate last year with a special treatment program for women who were struggling to conceive.

According to the association, 270 women were provided with Korean medicine treatments such as liquid medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion.

The association was provided with funding of 500 million won from Gyeonggi Province in support of the project.

At the end of the three-month program, 45 women had dropped out. Of the remaining 231 female participants, 11.3 percent (26 women) were successful in becoming pregnant.

The average age of the women who participated was 36 years old, with the oldest being 45 years old. In addition, the women had been trying to get pregnant, on average, for 53 months prior.

Among women younger than 38 years of age, 12.5 percent became pregnant. For women above 41 years old, the pregnancy rate was 12.2 percent.

Six women became pregnant within a month of starting the treatment, while another six were pregnant by the second month and seven women in the third month of treatment.

Another seven women got pregnant during the observation period, which was six months after the treatment began.

Among the women who participated in the program, 87.5 percent were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the results.

Kim, one female participant who became pregnant, said that one strength of the treatment was that it made her feel calm.

“I hope that the project can be expanded so that more women who are trying to get pregnant can experience the happiness of having a child,” said Kim.
