20s and 30s Women Core Audience of Performing Arts Shows Last Year

SEOUL, Jan. 18 (Korea Bizwire)For the second straight year, more performing arts tickets were purchased by women in their 30s than all other demographic categories.

Two years ago, 69 percent of all entrance passes moved on South Korea’s largest online ticket booth, Interpark, were women. In 2017, 71 percent of the 1.64 million who acquired tickets were women.

Comprising 34.3 percent of the ticket sales, women in their 30s were most heavily represented, though women in their 20s were not far behind at 33.7 percent. Young women between the ages of 10 and 19 accounted for 10.6 percent. Women between the ages of 30 and 39 led all show ticket purchases for both 2016 and 2017.

More than half of those in attendance were found to be women as well, with 35.7 percent in their 30s, and 32.1 percent in their 20s.
