SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s major construction firms are banding together to address inter-floor noise, which has emerged as a major social problem in recent years.
Samsung C&T Corp., the construction unit of Samsung Group, announced that it recently signed an agreement with POSCO Engineering & Construction Co. and Lotte Engineering & Construction Co. to jointly develop technology for the reduction of noise between floors.
Under terms of the agreement, the three companies will share the noise reduction technology and related data that they have individually accumulated.
In addition, they will also set up a technology consultative body to address the inter-floor noise issue, while focusing on developing inter-floor noise reduction technology through a combination of their respective strengths.
In particular, they aim to develop an economical and optimal solution for the reduction of noise between floors by the end of next year.
Moreover, they will promote the joint use of research facilities and equipment to verify newly-developed technology and engineering techniques, as well as to increase their field applicability.
These solutions will be open for public use, with the goal of contributing to the formulation of standards and policies regarding inter-floor noise.
