SEOUL, May 22 (Korea Bizwire)SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s leading mobile carrier, has announced that it will be introducing a precise location information service at 40 golf courses nationwide with VC.

VC, a manufacturer of ‘Voice Caddie,’ the KLPGA’s official distance finder device brand, is the No. 1 ICT golf device company in the country with various products such as golf watches, laser rangefinders, and voice-type distance measuring devices on offer.

Both companies applied the world’s first Auto Pin Location (APL) technology to VC’s golf watch Voice Caddie T7 and laser-type distance measuring device Voice Caddie SL2 that tracks pin locations in real time.

SK Telecom and VC signed a business agreement in October last year and developed a service that provides precise location information on golf courses using 5G networks and LTE Cat.M1.

VC’s APL features SK Telecom’s Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Internet of Things (IoT) measurement technology, allowing users to check the exact location of the hole in real time up to several centimeters during a golf game.

When Voice Caddie T7 and Voice Caddie SL2 products are linked to the smartphone’s My Voice Caddie app, the distance meter automatically identifies the pin location and provides the exact distance to the hole.

SK Telecom and VC are planning to jointly develop a golf service using 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) so that more detailed location measurements can be made in the future.

They tandem will also continue to cooperate to apply ultra-precision measurement to more diverse industries such as agriculture and logistics.
