SEOUL, April 28 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean cosmetics contract manufacturer Kolmar Korea Co. said Thursday it has developed a paper stick container to replace conventional plastic containers used for cosmetic products.
The paper stick container is made from mineral paper derived from leftover stones dumped in quarries and mines.
As an eco-friendly material, it returns to its original state of stone powder by naturally decomposing when exposed to light.
This feature provides strong humidity resistance and contributes to saving trees and water during the production process.
The rear plug fixing the product uses an eco-friendly material containing 51 percent paper ingredients, minimizing the use of plastics.
Kolmar Korea plans to release lip balms and sun sticks using paper stick containers, starting in the latter half of this year.
After commercializing paper tubes in 2020, the company has been engaged in developing eco-friendly packaging to reduce the use of plastics.
