SEOUL, June 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Aston Martin, the iconic British supercar brand, has unveiled the DB12 today, a groundbreaking addition to its DB series. Described as the world’s first “Super Tourer” (ST), surpassing the “Grand Tourer” (GT) category, the DB12 showcases Aston Martin’s commitment to high-performance and luxury.
At a press conference held in the Aston Martin Seoul showroom, the DB12 made its official debut in Korea, marking a significant moment for the brand, as it represented the first official product launch by Aston Martin itself in Korea, rather than through a dealer. With a rich history spanning 110 years, Aston Martin’s DB series has been the flagship lineup, including the famous DB5 driven by James Bond in the ’007′ movies.
The DB12 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4,775mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,295mm in height. Under the hood, it features a 4.0 twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 680 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. With a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h, the DB12 offers remarkable performance.
The car incorporates advanced technology, including an electronic rear differential (E-Diff), enhancing cornering performance and control. Aston Martin’s new logo, introduced last year, adorns the front of the car, displaying a refined design.
To compete in the Korean market, Aston Martin aims to provide tailored products and services through a strategy of “Korean customization.” This approach aligns with the growing ultra-luxury market in Korea, where imported car sales have been setting records.
With the DB12, Aston Martin aims to meet the evolving demands of Korean customers, positioning itself alongside renowned brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini. The DB12 is expected to arrive in Korea between August and September.
An industry insider commented, “Considering that ultra-luxury import brands like Porsche, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce achieved the highest sales in Korea last year, with top executives frequently visiting the country, Aston Martin likely concluded that its existing grand tourer model was insufficient to meet customer demands.”
