SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – Popular actor Kim Joo-hyuk died in a car crash Monday, police said.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in southern Seoul, causing his Mercedes to overturn and catch fire.

Further details were not immediately available. Kim was 45.

Kim debuted as a SBS TV actor in 1998. He initially received attention as son of late veteran actor Kim Moo-saeng but soon built up his acting credentials through diverse movies and TV shows.

He gained popularity with his humorous and warm charm appearing in romantic comedies such as “Singles” (2003), “When Romance Meets Destiny” (2005), “Blue Swallow” (2005), and “My Wife Got Married” (2008).

Most recently, he made his villain debut in ”Confidential Assignment” (2017) and “The Tooth and the Nail” (2017). On the small screen, he appeared in ”Lovers in Prague” (2005), “Warrior K” (2012) and “The Legendary Doctor – Hur Jun” (2013).

He graduated from Dongguk University’s Department of Theater and Film.
