SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Actor Joowon and singer-actress BoA have broken up after being in relationship for nearly one year, their agencies said Monday.

“The company confirmed that Joowon and BoA have recently ended their relationship,” Hwai Brothers Korea, Joowon’s agency, said in a release. “But we do not know the details,” it added.

BoA’s management, S.M. Entertainment also confirmed the news.

In January, the two stars announced that they were dating.

Joowon made his debut in the 2006 musical “Altar Boyz” and rose to fame with a string of hit dramas including KBS series “King of Baking, Kim Takgu,” “Ojakgyo Family,” “Bridal Mask,” and “Good Doctor” and MBC drama “7th Grade Civil Servant.”

In 2015, he was awarded the grand prize at the SBS Drama Awards for his performance in the drama “Yong-Pal.” He last appeared in the SBS TV drama series “My Sassy Girl” before beginning his mandatory military service in May.

In South Korea, all able-bodied South Korean men are subject to compulsory military service for about two years.

The Asianwide star BoA played the lead role in the romance movie “Autumn Sonata” that opened last month.
