SEOUL, Aug. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – A video of a male actor bowing his head and apologizing for “causing distress through an affair” has become a viral sensation in South Korea.
But the apology isn’t for a real-life indiscretion — it’s a tongue-in-cheek response to the actor’s convincing portrayal of an unfaithful husband in a popular television drama.
The video, titled “I’m Kim Ji-sang, I’m Sorry,” was posted on the SBS YouTube channel on August 24. It features actor Ji Seung-hyun, who plays the role of Kim Ji-sang, a doctor cheating on his divorce lawyer wife Cha Eun-kyung (played by Jang Na-ra) in the hit SBS drama “Good Partner.”
In the clip, Ji, maintaining a serious demeanor, offers a “sincere and profound apology” to his on-screen wife for the affair. He goes on to apologize to his character’s mistress, Choi Sa-ra (played by Han Jae-yi), saying, “I committed the unforgivable act of maintaining two households.”
The actor then turns his attention to the viewers, apologizing for his character’s actions causing such strong reactions.
“I know that because of me, there have been responses like ‘My low blood pressure has been cured’ and ‘I feel like I’m choking and need some catharsis,’” he says. “I think all of this is because I, Ji Seung-hyun, acted too well. I’m sorry.”
The video has struck a chord with Korean netizens, amassing nearly 800,000 views in just two days and ranking 10th on YouTube Korea’s trending list. It has sparked numerous shares and discussions across online communities and social media platforms.
Viewers have responded with amusement and appreciation for the creative promotional content. Comments range from praise for the concept to playful jabs at the character, with one user writing, “Do you think apologizing through a video will make us forgive you, Kim Ji-sang?”
