The educational video was first uploaded to YouTube and shared on a number of social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

“I decided to narrate the video with the hopes of shedding light on activist An Jung-guen’s longing for not just the liberation from the Japanese colonization, but world peace,” Choi said.

“Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has branded An as a ‘terrorist’. As Japan has distributed videos containing misinformation about An, we wanted to stop the spread and help provide Japanese people with accurate historical information,” Professor Seo said.

“Each country has its own hero. As these figures change the image of a country, we are introducing An in an English video too to help reach young people around the world.

Professor Seo plans to produce more videos in English and Japanese in the future.
