Actress Suzy’s Hanbok Photoshoot to Decorate Times Square on Christmas Eve

SEOUL, Dec. 15 (Korea Bizwire) –The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of South Korea announced that photos of actress Suzy wearing traditional Korean attire, hanbok, will be featured on the electronic billboards at Times Square in New York on Christmas Eve. The images will be displayed from 6 a.m. on December 24 to 2 a.m. on December 25 (local time).

This initiative is part of the ministry’s project to promote hanbok globally. The project aims to expand the scope of the Korean Wave, Hallyu, to traditional culture through collaboration between small and medium-sized hanbok enterprises and cultural artists. Last year, the project featured former figure skater Kim Yuna.

This year, six small and medium-sized companies developed hanbok products with Suzy as the model. The designs retain traditional elements of hanbok while incorporating contemporary trends and sensibilities.

The hanbok developed this year will be showcased at various events, including the Newtro Festival in February and Hanbok Culture Week in October of next year.
