SUWON, Nov. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – A deer that had terrorized residents of Suwon, injuring two people with its antlers, was finally captured on November 9, ending a four-day search that had put the city on edge.
The animal was caught around 9 a.m. near a restaurant in Hagwanggyo-dong, Jangan District, by a professional rescue team, according to Suwon city officials. The capture came after the deer had attacked two separate individuals on November 6 at popular recreational areas —Gwanggyo Lake Park in Yeongtong District and a walking trail near Gwanggyo Reservoir in Jangan District.
The incidents prompted the city to establish an emergency response team comprising police and fire department personnel. Public safety concerns had escalated following the attacks, which occurred in areas frequently used by residents for outdoor activities.
“The deer has been temporarily relocated to a nearby deer farm,” a city official said. “If no owner comes forward, we will proceed with adoption procedures for abandoned animals.” There are four deer farms in the vicinity: two in Suwon (in Omokcheon-dong and Namsu-dong), one in Yongin, and another in Uiwang.
