SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s Gangdong District, jointly with LG Uplus Corp., plans to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) for the protection of abandoned animals.
The district will use the AI to collect data by observing diseases or abnormal activities, and monitoring the status of each abandoned animal brought in for protection.
An AI robot will be capable of playing with the animals, and provide snacks regularly for training and education, district officials explained.
Gangdong District opened the Ribbon Center in 2017 to protect and send abandoned animals for adoption, but the facility has recently been struggling to maintain basic operations due to a lack of volunteers following the coronavirus outbreak.
