SEOUL, Jul. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – A recent global survey has revealed that generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, have seen the most significant improvement in performance satisfaction within the sales sector this year.
Meanwhile, the legal field experienced the steepest decline in AI satisfaction.
According to a quarterly AI survey conducted by Bain & Company, which polled executives from 200 companies across various industries worldwide, the sales domain saw a 6 percentage point increase in AI performance satisfaction, rising from 76% to 82%.
This suggests that as sales professionals continue to use generative AI in their daily operations, they are finding it increasingly effective.
The survey compared responses from October of last year to February of this year, focusing on whether AI tools met or exceeded expectations in various business functions.
Other areas that saw notable increases in AI satisfaction include software code development (77% to 81%), marketing (76% to 80%), and customer service (80% to 84%), each showing a 4 percentage point rise.
Conversely, the legal sector experienced the most dramatic drop in AI satisfaction, plummeting from 71% to 53% – a decrease of 18 percentage points. Other areas showing significant declines in AI satisfaction include operations (81% to 65%), human resources (85% to 73%), and knowledge worker assistance (82% to 72%).
The fluctuating satisfaction rates come amid a broader debate about the true capabilities of generative AI. While there’s widespread optimism about AI’s potential to boost productivity in areas like sales and marketing, driving growth in the IT industry and stock markets, skeptics argue that the technology’s abilities may be overstated, citing a lack of concrete commercial applications.
An insider from the South Korean AI industry commented, “Sales and coding have abundant exemplary data, making it relatively easy to refine AI to produce correct answers.
However, fields like legal work lack practical, correct reference materials.” They added that the development of specialized AI for these challenging domains is ongoing, warranting continued observation.
Overall, the average satisfaction rate for generative AI performance decreased by 4 percentage points, from 81% to 77%. Despite this, the adoption rate of generative AI among surveyed companies increased from 83% to 87%, indicating that nearly 9 out of 10 companies are now embracing this technology.
