SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — A project is underway to make and supply customized military apparel such as uniforms and shoes by using the three-dimensional physical information of soldiers.
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Air Force on Wednesday to promote the project.
Under terms of the MOU, the agency will supply customized military supplies by leveraging the 3D physical information technology and know-how it has accumulated since it launched the anthropometric database initiative ‘Size Korea’ in 1979.
Starting from next year, the agency will collect the physical information of Air Force soldiers by applying its 3D human body information system.
On the basis of the information it collected, the agency will support the development of standard military apparel and the advancement of technologies needed to improve the military outfits.
The Air Force will establish infrastructure to accumulate the big data on the physical information of its soldiers and enable the agency to use it for the Size Korea initiative.
