SEOUL, May 19 (Korea Bizwire) – The adapted version of South Korea TV series “The Good Doctor” has landed a prime-time slot on American TV channel ABC.

According to South Korean TV network KBS, where the original version of “The Good Doctor” first aired back in 2013, the American version will go on air every Monday from 10 p.m. on ABC, one of the major broadcast television networks in America.

“A remake of a foreign TV series to be broadcast during prime time is a rare occasion,” KBS said.

The main plot of “The Good Doctor” revolves around a brilliant surgeon who suffers from savant syndrome, and his senior surgeon at the department of pediatric surgery at a university hospital.

Written by David Shore, the writer of famous hit medical TV series House, and produced by Sony Pictures Television, the American version will adopt similar characters and backgrounds.

The two main surgeon characters in the American remake, played by South Korean actor and actress Joo Won and Moon Chae-won in the original version, will be played by Freddie Highmore and Antonia Thomas.

The production of the first season of the show was greenlighted by ABC after a pilot was aired successfully this year, with the first season scheduled to be released this fall.
