HONGCHEON, Nov. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — A former ammunition maintenance facility used by the South Korean military has been turned into a space for art and culture.
The Gangwon Art and Culture Foundation will hold the 2019 Gangwon Triennale for Artists near the old ammunition maintenance factory in Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province until December 3.
The facility was first built in 1973, symbolizing the divide and separation of the Korean peninsula.
Fourteen artists will be invited to artistically express the issue of war, violence, and the true meaning of freedom and tolerance through installation art and videos.
