SEOUL, July 5 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean cosmetics giant AmorePacific Corp. announced that along with a team of researchers from the U.S.-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), it has developed a wearable skin measuring device that can measure the state of skin over long periods of time regardless of changes in external environments.

Developed after three years of R&D efforts, the device has a thin film-like shape and is embedded with a flexible sensor.

AmorePacific said that the device can adhere well to the curved surface of the skin without being affected by the motion of the skin.

When using the device, it’s possible to monitor changes in skin over long periods of time without irritating the skin.

In addition, the device also enables users to measure and analyze the state of the skin under various circumstances, including daily activities, exercises and long-time movement.

AmorePacific said that based on the customized data that it will acquire by using the device, it expects to be able to develop a variety of new cosmetics items that are best optimized for specific environments or skin conditions.
