SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – With U.S. President Donald Trump expected to visit South Korea next month, demonstrators took to the streets over the weekend for a series of anti-war protests in Seoul.

Dozens of followers of Hyanglin Church marched from Myeongdong, where the church is located, to Gwanghwamun on Sunday, stopping in front of the KT Gwanghwamun Building to stage a surprise prayer service calling for peace on the Korean peninsula.

The anti-war protestors then laid flowers on top of a banner that read, “No THAAD! When THAAD systems go, peace comes.”

Earlier on the weekend, around 30 members of a university student group also held a protest at a similar location against Trump’s scheduled visit to South Korea.

The group said they staged an anti-Trump performance where they shot BB guns at a picture of Trump’s face, as they believe the U.S. president is escalating the possibility of war on the Korean peninsula.

The ‘No Trump Collective Action’, an anti-Trump coalition consisting of over 220 groups including the Korea Alliance for Progressive Movements and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, has also announced plans to hold protests against Trump’s state visit to South Korea next month.
