SEOUL, Nov.18 (Korea Bizwire) – With the Star Wars series returning to the screen after a 10-year absence, companies in the fashion industry are collaborating with the blockbuster franchise to launch new products.
The SPA brand UNIQLO announced that it will launch Star Wars themed items from men’s outers to women’s bags and its popular HeatTech underwear, all to celebrate the return of the movie.
Main characters such as Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, and Yoda are printed on the items. Princess Leia and Chewbacca are also featured in eye-catching graphic designs.
UNIQLO will open a special Star Wars boutique at its Myeongdong, Lotte World Mall and Gangnam stores, and present movie tickets to those who buy more than 70,000 won worth of Star Wars themed merchandise.
Design United, the young casual brand of Shinsegae International, will also launch products as part of a collaboration with Star Wars.
Officials from Design United explained that eight different styles of hoodies, stadium jumpers and sweatshirts that consumers of all age and gender can enjoy will be released, even though the fans of the movie are mostly men.
Sweatshirts will be launched in various designs with patterns of space, as well as products featuring shields decorated with Darth Vader and Stormtroopers.
Design United will also exhibit Darth Vader and Stormtrooper costumes and Star Wars themed Lego at its popup store in Hongdae.
Star Wars, a series of science fiction movies directed by George Lucas, first hit the silver screen in 1977, and is gaining great popularity every time a new installment is released. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, which opens in December, is the seventh Star Wars movie, and is being released following a 10-year hiatus for the franchise.
