SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Korea Bizwire)After touching the hearts of South Koreans with their “Arirang” performance at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, figure skating pair Yura Min and Alexander Gamelin expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received since. 

With Min explaining that her parents were worried she would get lazy and turn complacent if she received too much funding, the pair said going forward they would only accept “support with their hearts”.

For the 2022 Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing, Min and Gamelin had since last year been gathering contributions via the crowdfunding site GoFundMe.

While accumulated donations fell short of their target for over a year, after the Arirang performance at the Olympics, donations to their page surged. Currently a second round of fundraising targeting $100,000 has yielded over $120,000. 

President Moon Jae-in and first lady Kim Jung-sook together contributed $1,000 from their private purse to Min and Gamelin.
