SEOUL, Jul. 17 (Korea Bizwire) – Asiana Airlines announced on July 16 that it will launch a line of bags and pouches made from recycled uniforms, embracing the concept of upcycling.

The South Korean carrier has partnered with 119REO, a fashion brand known for upcycling firefighters’ protective gear, to create these innovative products.

The collaboration aims to promote resource circularity and carbon neutrality by repurposing retired flight attendant uniforms and firefighters’ protective clothing.

The joint venture was inspired by the shared commitment to safety between firefighters and airline crew members. The resulting products showcase Asiana’s distinctive rainbow-striped design and feature a collaborative label.

The centerpiece of this eco-friendly initiative is a set comprising a sling bag and a pouch, priced at 119,000 won. These items embody the airline’s dedication to sustainable practices and creative reuse of materials.

An Asiana Airlines representative stated, “This upcycling project is part of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management strategy to achieve carbon neutrality. We focused on expressing the shared professional ethos of firefighters and flight attendants through these products.”

In a move that underscores the initiative’s social responsibility aspect, the airline plans to donate all proceeds from the sales to organizations supporting firefighters’ welfare.
