SEOUL, March 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Baskin Robbins Korea has issued an apology after making light of the sexual harassment scandal involving now deceased actor Jo Min-ki in an online post.

In the promotional Instagram post, which has now been deleted, the ice cream company used a number of controversial hashtags including ‘#very_much_excited,” and ‘#really_dangerous’, which are direct reference to inappropriate messages sent by the actor to his victims.

According to screenshots of one of the conversations, Jo is seen posing sex-related questions to the victim, who chose to stay anonymous, while saying he was very much excited and it was really dangerous.

The ill-judged marketing has since drawn widespread criticism online, with many calling the post ‘unthinkable’ and ‘inconsiderate’ to the victims, given the current climate, prompting the company to issue an apology on Instagram.

“We sincerely apologize for the controversy and offence caused to the victims by uploading a post without checking the use of inappropriate words,” the company said in a post uploaded on Instagram on Friday.

“We feel responsibility as a company for the scandal and we’ll make sure to double check our overall business processes to make sure nothing similar happens again,” Baskin Robbins Korea added.
