SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Queried about the biggest concerns with using 5G smartphones, the majority of respondents in a new survey pointed to battery life, overheating, and durability.
LG Electronics Inc. conducted a survey of 1,000 smartphone users in South Korea and the United States, 65.3 percent of whom said they were most concerned about battery life when using a 5G smartphone, followed by overheating (44.6 percent), performance/stability (43 percent), sensitivity/durability (30.9 percent) and design (19.4 percent).
“The results show that we need to ensure the stability of our 5G smartphones based on outstanding battery life and proper heat-dissipating features,” said LG Electronics.
“We also need to ensure that we maintain a light and slim design for our 5G products, while bringing to market a variety of 5G devices.”
Among the respondents, 74 percent said they were excited about the upcoming 5G services.
LG Electronics will begin supplying 5G smartphones this year starting with South Korea, the United States, and Europe, where demand for premium devices exists.
Strategy Analytics, a market analysis firm, forecasted that manufacturers will begin supplying 5G smartphones this year to premium markets, and that the smartphone market will begin to expand in 2023.
