SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — The best-selling color for Samsung Electronics Co.’s next-generation foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Flip 4, has thus far not been the most-touted Bora Purple but rather Pink Gold.
According to the tech giant, SK Telecom users showed a preference for Pink Gold (28 percent), Blue (23 percent) and Bora Purple (23 percent) while KT users opted for Pink Gold (29 percent), Blue (27 percent) and Bora Purple (23 percent).
Even for LG Uplus users, Pink Gold (26 percent) was the best-selling model followed by Bora Purple at 25 percent and blue at 22 percent.
Bora Purple is a word created by combining “bora,” the Korean word for purple, and the English word “purple.”
Roh Tae-moon, president and head of Samsung’s mobile experience (MX) division, wore a purple-colored shirt at a press conference held in New York on Aug. 10, implying that the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s main launch color was Bora Purple.
Samsung also staged a color marketing campaign in collaboration with the members of BTS, for which purple is a team color.
Unlike expectations, however, the most popular color during last week’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 reservation sales was Pink Gold.
Consumers showed more preference for Pink Gold, a departure from Samsung’s color offerings in the past, rather than purple, a color that has been used frequently for Samsung products.
