SEOUL, Oct. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – Marketing firm Innocean Worldwide’s latest big data analysis categorized the lifestyle of jobseekers into three keywords: relationship, relief, and location. The study was based on an analysis of some 600,000 social data records related to youth employment on online communities.

According to Innocean, words related to study groups (for job search and application) were most prevalent in terms of job seekers’ personal relationships, indicating that a large number of prospective recruits depended on each other, partaking in study group activities to overcome their lonely and stressful struggles.

However, when it came specifically to friendships or romantic relationships, terms like “break up”, “parting”, “avoiding”, and “argument” were most common, whereas for family and parents, the words “sorry”, “regretful”, and “nagging” were more frequently found as related terms.

As to relieving stress, “Internet”, “exercise”, “smartphone”, “computer”, and “stretching” were the most common, demonstrating that a lack of time and strenuous economic circumstances were limiting activities to simple things that they could partake in alone.

The big data team also discovered that job seekers were having difficulty finding suitable places for study groups to meet, despite the activity being commonplace. Related terms like “insufficient” or “none”, which refer to a lack of physical space, were most frequently found when it came to study group locations.

Cafés were among the most popular meet-up spots for the job seekers, whereas unexpected locations like “bars” and “motels” were also being used by study groups.

Academies for job-seeking youth rented out bars, which tend to close during daytime, for  students as studying areas, while study groups also rented cheap motel rooms for their employment preparations.

“If current support programs (by businesses) for young job seekers tend to focus on giving advice or cheering them up, they should now try to help improve their everyday conditions based on the three keywords, offering cultural activities for relieving stress while providing free study space,” said an Innocean official.
