SEOUL, March 5 (Korea Bizwire)Daesung of the K-pop group BIGBANG will begin his mandatory military service next week, his agency said Monday.

“Daesung will be admitted into an Army basic training camp next Tuesday and undergo a five week training session,” YG Entertainment said. He will be assigned to an Army unit, where he will serve out the rest of his mandatory duty after finishing his basic training.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men have to fulfill their military duty for around two years.

Daesung’s enlistment will be preceded by bandmate Taeyang’s own admittance to the military on Monday and will leave Seungri as the only BIGBANG member yet to serve. The group’s lead singer G-Dragon began his military service last Tuesday, while main rapper T.O.P is currently carrying out his duty as a public service worker at Yongsan-gu Ward Office in Seoul.

Along with his success through BIGBANG, Daesung has carved out a formidable solo career in Japan by releasing two solo albums, “D’scover” and “D-Day,” since 2013.

Seungri plans to enlist after releasing a solo album sometime during the first half of the year, according to YG.
