BigBang Tops 8 Music Charts upon Release of New Single Album

SEOUL, July 1 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean boy group BigBang rose to the top of major local music charts upon the release of its new single album Wednesday.

According to YG Entertainment, which manages the group, BigBang unveiled the third album of its “Made Series” project at midnight.

“If You,” one of the two tracks on the album titled “D,” landed at No. 1 on eight major music charts, including Genie, Melon and Mnet as soon as the album was released. The album’s other track, “Sober,” was ranked second on those charts, proving BigBang’s status as a top K-pop idol group.

“D” is also drawing popularity abroad, sitting at No. 1 on iTunes’ singles albums’ chart in 16 regions, including Hong Kong, Norway, Peru and Thailand that day. It even rose to No. 4 and No. 22 in the United States and Britain.

“If You” is the saddest song that has ever been released by BigBang, while “Sober” is a cheerful dance piece that suits well with the summer season.

Since May, BigBang has been releasing new single albums containing one or two songs every month under the “Made Series” project.

“Loser” and “Bae Bae,” both contained in the “M” single album, had swept various music charts for weeks since their release in May.

“Bang Bang Bang” and “We Like 2 Party,” tracks on the June album “A,” were also received well.
