SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Global automakers are identifying their eco-friendliness with distinguished colors, with blue and red enjoying growing popularity, Hyundai Motor Group said Tuesday.
Blue is a color representing environmental friendliness, while red is associated with copper, the core component of electric vehicles.
According to a report released by a global chemical giant BASF S.E., the share of those who opt for blue cars stood at 9 percent, the highest among chromatic colors (excluding white, black, gray and silver).
Following blue were red at 6 percent, and brown and green at 2 percent each.
Hyundai Motor Group suggested that blue was particularly popular for compact car models, for which young people are the primary consumers.
In fact, 40 percent of those who purchased an Avante N (M/T) sedan opted for ‘performance blue,’ while 33 percent of those who purchased a Kona N subcompact SUV selected ‘sonic blue.’
Another 22 percent of those who purchased a Venue compact SUV selected ‘denim blue pearl,’ while 18 percent of those who purchased a Kona Hybrid selected ‘dive blue,’ proving the popularity of blue as an exterior car paint color.
