SEOUL, Oct. 25 (Korea Bizwire)Among various kinds of certifications, drone pilot certification was found to be the most popular among South Koreans.

According to Yes24, a South Korean online bookstore, some 1,720 books related to drone pilot certification were sold in 2017, a big jump from 10 books in 2015 and 170 books in 2016.

Thus far this year, some 2,880 books have been sold over the 10-month period, more than double the figure for the same period last year.

The books seem to have become popular after a series of legislative changes were made to promote the drone industry.

Women are increasingly taking interest in drone certification as well.

In 2016, the gender ratio of people who bought drone-related books was 8 to 2 in favor of men. In 2017, more than 35 percent of all drone certification book buyers were women.

Sports instructor certification is also gaining popularity.

Books on sports instructor certification began to sell rapidly in 2015 when sports instructor became a state-authorized certified profession, and book sales more than tripled from the previous year.

Barista certification, however, seems to be cooling down.

In 2015, as many as 20,270 books on barista certification were sold, before dropping in 2016. In 2017, only 16,900 copies were sold.
