ARMONK, N.Y., Apr. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — IBM today announced that Broadway Video has selected Aspera, an IBM company, as the exclusive provider of high-speed file transfer solutions for bi-coastal production and content distribution to VOD and OTT providers. By significantly reducing the time it takes to produce and transfer content, Broadway Video can expand viewing options and quickly deliver new and previously broadcast material to millions worldwide.

Established in 1979 in New York’s historic Brill Building, Broadway Video has grown into an independent studio that produces and distributes original comedic content. To expand viewing, Broadway Video intends to improve the movement of content between its production studios in Los Angeles and New York to accelerate delivery to VOD and OTT providers.

Broadway Video selected a suite of high-speed transfer, management, and automation software from Aspera to advance its production and distribution capabilities. The deployment is centered on Aspera Shares and faspex(TM) transport technology. Aspera Shares consolidates access and browsing for projects across L.A. and N.Y. production locations with a powerful and flexible security model combining authorization, user management, and access control. The easy-to-use web interface provides transparent access to content regardless of location. Aspera faspex enables ad-hoc ingest during on-location shoots, and final digital package delivery to distribution platforms.

“Using Aspera allows us to complete and deliver shows to our distribution partners faster than ever before, so our audiences can view their favorite shows as quickly as possible after airing. Plus, Aspera makes it easier for our creative teams in L.A. and N.Y. to collaborate on projects, reducing turnaround times and increasing productivity,” said Robert Weigand, COO Post Production/Director of Information Technology & Digital at Broadway Video.

“We are very happy to be part of the new state-of-the-art production and distribution system at Broadway Video,” said Michelle Munson, CEO and co-founder of Aspera. “Broadway Video can rely on our proven, secure and flexible data movement platform to keep production teams in sync and more easily prepare and distribute final content, keeping them at the technology forefront of content production and distribution.”
