SEOUL, May 30 (Korea Bizwire)K-pop darling BTS has added to K-pop history with its latest song “Fake Love,” ranked 10th on Billboard’s highly competitive Hot 100 chart.

The result, released Tuesday (U.S. time), came one day after the song’s parent album “Love Yourself: Tear” reached the first spot of Billboard’s top 200 albums chart.

The song’s top 10 achievement brightened the prospects for the seven-member band’s goal for their third LP. In a press conference last week, member RM said they aim to clinch the top stop on the Billboard singles and albums charts.

Last year, BTS first entered the most popular 100 songs chart with “DNA,” which reached the 67th spot. Later in the same year, another BTS song, “Mic Drop,” made it as far as the 28th rank on the Hot 100 chart.

This has yet to best K-pop sensation Psy’s Hot 100 performance.

The rapper and singer clinched the Billboard Hot 100′s No. 2 spot with his mega hit song “Gangnam Style” in 2012. It retained the second spot for seven weeks in a row. Later, Psy’s three other songs — “Gentleman,” “Hangover” and “Daddy” — ranked 5th, 26th and 97th on the chart, respectively.

But it seems a matter of time for the phenomenal boy band to set a new K-pop record on the fiercely competitive Hot 100 chart, based on its streaming, album sales and radio performance.

BTS has already set a litany of records for the K-pop industry.

The septet scooped up its second Billboard Award in the Top Social Artist category in this year’s award show earlier in May, becoming the first ever Korean act to win two Billboard awards in a row.

Upon release, the latest album, the third of the four-phase “Love Yourself” series, instantly claimed the top spot on iTunes’ Top Albums charts in 65 countries, including the United States, Australia and Brazil.

As with dreaming, “It’s the bigger, the better,” BTS member Suga said in the press conference last week in Seoul, setting no limits for their journey to conquer the global music world.

“We also want to do stadium tours, go for the Grammy Awards and become the most influential singers in the world,” he said.

The latest Hot 100 chart was led by Drake’s “Nice for What,” which returned to the top spot, beating “This is America” by Childish Gambino.
