Bulguksa, Nami Island, and Hwadam Forest Were Top Places to Enjoy Autumn Leaves Last Year

SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – For last year’s autumn foliage season, the most visited places by users of Socar’s car-sharing service were Bulguksa Temple, Nami Island, and Hwadam Forest. Socar recently released a list of the top ten autumn foliage sites based on its vehicle stop data.

The vehicle stop data were extracted from Socar vehicles parked for more than an hour within a 500-meter radius of major autumn foliage sites.

During last year’s autumn foliage season, from September 30 to November 6, Bulguksa Temple was the most visited by Socar users, followed by Nami Island, Hwadam Forest, Namsan Mountain Trail, Seoul Forest, Gwanbangjerim Forest, Jeonju Hanok Village, the Garden of Morning Calm, Hyangwonjeong Pavilion at Gyeongbok Palace, and Buseok Temple.

Compared to the 2020 autumn foliage season when the COVID-19 social distancing rules were eased to level one, the number of vehicle stops at Seoul’s Sky Park experienced a sharp growth of 377 percent. 

In terms of age groups, those in their 20s showed a preference for flat areas with better accessibility, while those in their 40s and above leaned towards mountains and temples on the outskirts of urban areas.

The sites with the highest share of vehicle stops among those in their 20s were Sky Park, Nami Island, Jeonju Hanok Village, Gwanbangjerim Forest, and Hwadam Forest. 

For those in their 40s and above, the top sites were Buseok Temple, Seonjaegil Trail in Odaesan Mountain, Naganeupseong, Bulguksa Temple, and Jeondeungsa Temple.
