SEOUL, July 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Burger King Korea announced Thursday that burger recipes and ingredients developed in South Korea are gaining popularity in global markets, signaling the growing influence of Korean consumer tastes on international fast food trends.

According to the company, the “Quattro Cheese Whopper,” originally developed in Korea in 2013, has been exported since 2015 to seven countries including the United States, China, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. More recently, the “Cube Steak Whopper,” launched in 2023, has seen notable success in Japan, where it averages over 100 daily sales per store.

Korean-developed ingredients such as cheese buns, mixed mushrooms used in the “Triple Mushroom Whopper,” and beef cubes for the Cube Steak Whopper have also been exported to Japan and adapted for local tastes. Burger King Korea said these exports underscore the rising stature of the Korean market within the global brand network.

In a reciprocal move, Burger King Korea is also localizing internationally popular menu items for the domestic market. A company representative noted an increase in foreign tourists seeking out exclusive Korean menu items at Burger King locations, reflecting the broader appeal of Korean culinary preferences.

“As Korean consumers increasingly shape global food trends, we will continue to prioritize customer-driven innovation in our menu development,” the spokesperson said.
