BUSAN, Dec. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – The Busan International Art Fair (BIAF), an open art market that facilitates direct transactions between artists and collectors, is set to open on December 5 at BEXCO in Busan’s Haeundae district.

The K-ART International Exchange Association announced on December 1 that the 2024 edition of BIAF will run for four days through December 8 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 2, featuring approximately 3,000 artworks from 250 artists from South Korea, India, and other countries.

This year’s fair has secured sponsorship from India’s TVS Group and Hyundai Motor Company, a partnership expected to strengthen cultural and artistic exchanges between South Korea and India.

As part of this collaboration, the fair will present a special exhibition featuring 25 Indian artists, curated by renowned Indian art historian Ashraf Bhagat, offering visitors a comprehensive view of contemporary Indian art.

In a significant expansion of its support for emerging artists, the fair has increased the number of new artists by 40% compared to last year, providing exhibition space for 50 early-career artists.

“The Busan International Art Fair is an art festival where collectors can communicate directly with artists,” said Huh Sook, chairperson of the K-ART International Exchange Association.

“It’s a rare opportunity to encounter works from 250 domestic and international artists in one venue, providing art enthusiasts with a unique chance to build their collections.”

The fair will also feature auxiliary events, including a talk show titled “Provocative and Mischievous Chatter” with two outstanding emerging artists from last year, as well as docent tours led by participating artists.

The exhibition will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at BEXCO.

The K-ART International Exchange Association continues its commitment to social responsibility by donating proceeds from BIAF to UNICEF and supporting art students both domestically and internationally.
