BUSAN, Apr. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Beautiful yellow hues of canola flowers lined the Nakdong River as Busan hosted the 8th Busan Nakdong River Yuchae (Canola) Flower Festival on Saturday at Daejeo Ecological Park located in the city’s Gangseo District.
Visitors took photographs in front of heart-shaped canola flower gardens, while others rode their bicycles to enjoy the scent of canola flowers carried by the cool breeze from the Nakdong River.
“The flowers never seem to end, it almost makes me feel I’m walking on a sea of yellow,” said Kim, a visitor from Gimhae.
The canola flower garden at Daejeo Ecological Park is large enough to fit as many as 106 football fields. Climbing up the Gubo Bridge, visitors are mesmerized by the panoramic view of the flower gardens.
“Almost all canola flowers are in full bloom,” said the Busan Metropolitan City Agricultural Technology Center. “They are 4 to 5 centimeters shorter than last year, making them more suitable for taking photos.”
The festival will host joint wedding ceremonies, walking championships, and flower train rides.
Also, this year’s Light Up, a night-time exhibition program of the flower gardens, will extend its operating hours (6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) thanks to its massive popularity last year.
The festival runs until April 14.
