Busan Introduces Unmanned, Wall-Piercing Fire Fighting Truck

BUSAN, May 13 (Korea Bizwire)An unmanned fire truck which can fight fire while piercing through the external walls of a building has been deployed at Gijang Fire Station’s Jeonggwan 119 Safety Center which exercises jurisdiction over the Gori Nuclear Power Division in Busan.
 
The unmanned fire truck is a 1.74 billion won (US$ 1.58 million) import from Austria, and can pierce through 52cm-thick walls or tempered glass with its remote-controlled ‘destroyer’ cherry-picker, even at a height of 20 meters above the ground.

The truck can be also loaded with 1,500ℓ of water, 1,900ℓ of fire-extinguishing liquid and 500kg of fire-extinguishing powder, and can be used to fight fire at any time.
 
Although similar fire trucks have been already introduced at air ports around Korea, Jeonggwan 119 Safety Center is the first fire station in Korea to have been equipped with such a special truck.
 
The 8-wheeled truck, which rides stably in harsh road conditions, can run up to 122km per hour with a maximum output of 1,400 horsepower. The truck can house four fully geared fire fighters, and can also be remote-controlled far beyond a 100 meter distance.
 
Jeonggwan 119 Safety Center is currently preparing to work as the first disaster control center for any accidents occurring at the Gori Nuclear Power Division.
