SEOUL, Mar. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Well-known hotel chains are increasingly planning to open business hotels in Seoul, creating additional competition in the hospitality industry.
Accor, the global hotel group that operates 16 properties in Korea, has opened a business hotel, Ibis Style Ambassador Seoul, in Myeongdong. The company is planning to open two more Ibis Style hotels in Dongdaemun, Seoul and Busan by 2017. It is also set to develop a business hotel at the Yongsan hotel complex that is scheduled to open in 2017.
Shilla Hotel has opened business hotels in Yeoksam, Seoul and Dongtan, Gyeonggido, both of which are operated under the Shilla Stay brand. The company is also planning to open additional properties in Migeundong and Dohwadong before the end of the year.
Lotte Hotel is planning to open a 435 room-business hotel, Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong, in October, and another hotel in Chungmuro by the end of the year.
Shinsegae Chosun Hotel is opening a 342-room business hotel at Seoul Station in May, while Hyatt Hotels is planning to open a property in Seoul under its Hyatt Place brand in the summer.
