Calendar Sales Soar as Companies Cut Back on Freebies

SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire)Calendar sales at online shopping malls are on the rise as fewer companies are giving out calendars to employees.

An online shopping mall Gmarket reported that calendar sales over the last month (from Nov. 2 to Dec. 1) were up 22 percent from the same period last year. Compared to 2017, sales have jumped by 93 percent.

Sales of planners and schedulers in the last month were 43 percent higher than the previous month.

Another online retailer Auction reported a 4 percent increase in calendar sales over the same period.

More varieties are being added to the selection of calendars, including those with daily English words or famous quotes, as more consumers are buying them online.

Do-it-yourself calendars are also popular among consumers, who attach photos or draw in empty space.
