SEOUL, Aug. 14 (Korea Bizwire)Recently, there has been a campaign on SNS to “not order parcels” so that delivery workers can get a proper rest.

The move came after the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) proposed a campaign for the public to join forces to guarantee that workers would be able to rest.

“I will not place a delivery order for three days from Tuesday,” a netizen said.

The posting under the title of “From Thursday, I hope and root for delivery workers to take a vacation,” was released on the Internet and it is drawing sympathy from many. The post was even reposted about 1,700 times.

The Taekbae Union and the Parcel Delivery Workers’ Solidarity Union, both are unions of couriers and operating under the KCTU, proposed a campaign urging the public to designate August 16 and 17 as ‘Days of No Delivery’.

For these days, the public is asked not to place any orders from August 13 to 15.

The KCTU indicated, at the time, the need for a social decision.

The social decision is being called for to make the ‘Days of No Delivery’ a reality to improve the poor condition of delivery workers who suffer from long hours of labor but cannot even take a proper break.

In fact, truck drivers who work six days a week suffer from long work hours, as they typically work 13 to 14 hours a day.

The vacation itself is hard to think about because someone has to take care of the deliveries.

The KCTU has set August 16 and 17 as ‘Days of No Delivery’ because this is the off-season period when the number of deliveries is at its lowest level of the year.
