SEJONG, March 14 (Korea Bizwire) – To be reborn as a ‘sleepless’ facility, officials from Incheon International Airport have taken steps to keep stores open 24 hours a day, increase the number of late night buses, and most importantly, build a 60 room capsule hotel.
For the convenience of passengers transiting through Incheon airport, Walkerhill Hotel is currently laying the groundwork for a 67-room capsule hotel in the airport.
Capsule hotels are currently run at Haneda and Narita airports in Japan, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.
The capsule hotel in Haneda airport, Tokyo, has 101 rooms for men, and 63 rooms for women. Those who use the hotel can share a lounge, shower booths, and dressing rooms. Tiny shampoos, body wash, facial wash, towels and hair dryers are provided just like conventional hotels.
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and Incheon airport plan to expand the number of rooms if the service is popular.
Last year, there were 27,000 late night flights at Incheon, but officials are planning to increase the number of flights to 44,000 by 2020.
