SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire)To no one’s surprise, North Korea remains, at least outwardly, undaunted and defiant in the face of international condemnation over its persistent nuclear weapons program.

The official newspaper of the autocratic government, Rodong Sinmun (translated as labor newspaper), lambasted the recent developments in its September 20 issue under the title “None can Overcome the Mentally Strong”.

“Though the Americans and their followers continue their heinous misdeeds by appropriating the global stage at the United Nations, such actions do not trouble our military and our people in the slightest,” it read.

The piece also called for “a revolutionary spirit composed of rejuvenation through self-reliance and victory over tribulations” and insisted that “the development of nuclear capabilities must be even more spurred on to turn all these insignificant objects’ deplorable actions that hang onto their all-encompassing villainous schemes of isolation, sanctions and constriction into ash.”

More of the same was littered throughout the paper. North Korea experts point out that Kim Jong Un’s government has continually called for “rejuvenation through self-reliance” among the citizenry to forestall public agitation over the U.N. imposed sanctions and to create a rallying point for national solidarity.
