SEOUL, May 7 (Korea Bizwire) — It turns out that what teenagers really want from their parents isn’t money, but compliments.
According to an online survey of 396 teenagers conducted by School Jam, an educational content company, 23.7 percent said chose compliments when asked about which gifts they wanted to receive from their parents.
Second place was taken by “pocket money,” accounting for 22.7 percent, followed by “expression of affection,” at 21 percent, “gift,” at 18.4 percent and “free time,” accounting for 14.1 percent.
In the sibling preference survey, 64.3 percent said they liked having siblings, while 35.7 percent said they liked being an only child.
Among them, 40.4 percent said they wanted an older sister, while 22.4 percent of the respondents said they wanted an older brother.
Meanwhile, when asked whether their family was happy, 61.6 percent responded that their family was “happy and harmonious.”
This was followed by 33 percent replying that their family was “normal” and 5.3 percent saying that their family was “not harmonious.”
Furthermore, when asked if they wanted to have a pet, which many now recognized as a family member, 58.9 percent responded favorably.
While 24.4 percent did not want to raise a pet, 16.7 percent already had a pet in their house.
Meanwhile, 8 out of 10 teenagers said they liked their mother more than their father, the report showed.
