SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Korea Bizwire)A Chinese national who was waiting for a connecting flight out of Incheon International Airport was apprehended after sneaking past immigration and then getting cold feet.

According to immigration officials, the Chinese national who arrived in Incheon from Qingdao, China jumped over an immigration counter that was one meter tall while waiting for his connecting flight from Incheon to Rome, Italy on September 16.

But when the Chinese individual realized that it would be difficult to remain in South Korea illegally, he tried to leave by going through immigration again.

The individual’s plan was thwarted by an immigration official who found it odd that the individual did not have an entrance stamp indicating his previous arrival.

The Chinese national was said to have paid approximately 7 million won for a visa allowing him to travel to Europe.

After immigration authorities deported the individual, they said that they may install sensors and raise walls at immigration counters in order to prevent this from happening again.
