SEOUL, Jun. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Chuncheon, a city in Gangwon Province, is set to reopen a water park built on a site previously occupied by a U.S. military base next month after the success it experienced last year, attracting more than 50,000 visitors.
This summer, the Ggumjaram water garden, on which the city government spent more than 1 billion won including funding from the central government, comes with a new water slide that is 13.5 meters tall and 80 meters long.
With five 3-meter wide lanes, visitors can enjoy the water slide on inner tubes, with the thrilling drop culminating in a large pool.
During the spring and autumn, the pool will be converted to a field of artificial turf while it will be covered with snow to turn into a sledding slope during the winter.
Chuncheon’s latest move to add a water slide came after the closure of Camp Page, which saw a water tank left as an eyesore. Since then, the local government revamped the facility into a ride that will open to visitors for the first time this summer.
Tickets are 3,000 won for adults and 6,000 won for children.
