Citibank Korea Ranked First in Customer Complaint Numbers

SEOUL, June 4 (Korea Bizwire) The bank with the highest number of complaints per every 100,000 customers was Citibank Korea last year.

Among credit card companies, it was Hana-SK Card. As for the life insurance and property & casualty insurance industry, it was Woori Aviva Life and MG General Insurance. Tongyang Securities and Union Savings Bank took the No. 1 position in the securities and savings bank category, respectively.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service on June 3, Citibank Korea was the commercial bank with the highest number of customer complaints with 8.1 cases per every 100,000 customers.

Even though the complaint numbers were higher for Korea Exchange Bank (9.8 cases), its banking business customer complaint cases were reduced to 6.1 cases per 100,000 after adjusting for credit card-related complaints. Following Citibank, Standard Chartered Korea (7.8), Kookmin Bank (6.4), and Woori Bank (6.1) were ranked high in terms of customer complaint numbers.

In the credit card category, Hana-SK Card has received the most complaints last year at 14.8 cases per 100,000 persons. It was then followed by Hyundai Card (12.7), Korea Exchange Bank (12.4), Kookmin Card (12.0), and Shinhan Card (11.6).

Of the life insurance companies, Woori Aviva Life (59.2 cases) led the pack, with runners-up including KDB Life (42.9), ING Life (42.2), and Tongyang Life (37.6). The property & casualty insurance companies with the highest number of customer complaints included MG General Insurance (50.4), AIG Insurance (46.1), and Heungkuk Fire & Marine (36.3).
