ANYANG, April 8 (Korea Bizwire) – The city of Anyang, south of Seoul, announced Tuesday that ‘happy boxes’ were sent out to seniors staying at home for an extended period of time after welfare centers and other facilities for seniors were shut down due to the coronavirus.
The happy boxes consist of various kits needed to grow bean sprouts, lettuce, barley grass, as well as cotton masks with replaceable filters and loofah makers.
The boxes have been distributed to seniors on welfare programs and low-income earners through senior welfare centers and facilities.
“We are concerned about our senior citizens suffering from depression and loneliness as they have to stay indoors for an extensive period of time,” city officials said.
“We have decided to send out happy boxes to lighten up their struggles.”
