SEOUL, March 28 (Korea Bizwire)The Voluntary Agency Network of Korea (VANK), a civic group promoting the country and its history online for an international audience, has launched an English website exposing the truth about Chinese efforts to distort the history of the Great Wall of China.

The website, comprised of three sections, talks about the original location of the Great Wall, how and why it has been extended, and why the issue matters.

The website exposes the truth behind China’s false claim that the Great Wall, originally 6,000-kilometers long, has now become 21,196.18 kilometers in length, long enough to reach Pyongyang in the Korean peninsula.

Students around the world will be exposed to false information, believing that the history of Korea’s ancient kingdoms of Goguryeo and Balhae is an extension of Chinese history.

The website provides educational materials that point out the distorted delineations of the Great Wall, criticizing problems beyond the Great Wall and China’s cultural imperialism.

It brings excerpts from some 50 publications from around the world to show how the Great Wall has been depicted incorrectly.

The website also includes a section about the letters the civic group has sent to the editors of books carrying false information about the Great Wall, as well as campaign posters and a global petition against China’s attempts to distort history and VANK’s response as introduced by various media outlets.
