SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – The head of South Korean food and entertainment conglomerate CJ became the new chairman of a major business lobby on Tuesday, the federation said.

Sohn Kyung-shik, 78, took office as the chairman of the Korea Employers Federation (KEF) as five members of its screening committee unanimously selected him to succeed Bahk Byong-won, according to the business lobby.

“I feel heavy responsibility with the tasks that need to be tackled for the development of the South Korean economy,” Sohn said in a statement released after the appointment, vowing to fully represent the voices of the business circle.

“I will contribute to the coexistence of labor and management, as well as to economic development, based on my experience working at the firm and other economic groups,” he said.
